Skyward, Ltd. is pleased to announce the award of a five-year Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase III Other Transaction (OT) through the U.S. Air Force, with a ceiling of $100 million. The award provides a broad vehicle for Skyward to mature, adapt, demonstrate, and transition technologies stemming from successful SBIR research and development efforts.
SBIR Phase III efforts derive from, extend, or complete technologies developed through earlier SBIR projects and provide a pathway for continued research, prototyping, product development, testing, manufacturing, integration, and technology transition using non-SBIR funding. Structured as an Other Transaction under 10 U.S.C. § 4022, the award provides a more flexible acquisition framework than traditional FAR-based procurement, creating additional opportunities for Skyward to collaborate with government customers and industry partners.
The agreement’s broad scope includes:
- Survivability, vulnerability, lethality, and threat analysis
- Modeling and simulation, digital engineering, and structural analysis
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer vision, and software development
- Testing, live-fire evaluation, and test technology development • Vulnerability reduction, including fire-protection technologies
- Design, prototyping, manufacturing, integration, and aerospace technologies

Skyward anticipates that the Phase III vehicle can support continued advancement of technologies within its existing portfolio, including its Fire-Protected/Self-Sealing fuel tank and SKY-STRUC™ structural analysis technology, while also enabling exploration of new defense, aerospace, and dual-use applications. The company continues to expand its technology development and commercialization efforts, creating new opportunities to connect government requirements, industry capabilities, and innovative research.
The award was issued through the Arnold Engineering and Development Complex Procurement Branch at Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee.
